The Averill Park Wrestling Association (APWA) is a 501(c)(3) charitable organization dedicated to teaching and promoting the sport of wrestling in the Averill Park school district.
This season we are offering 3 different programs:
Lil' Warriors, Tomahawks and Jr. Warriors.
Lil' Warriors are for boys and girls in grades K-1. The focus of the coaching will be on learning body movements and control that will help them develop the fundamental skills required in wrestling. This level is designed to be taught mostly through games, without the stresses of competition. Registration cost is $40. All participants receive a personalized APWA-Dri-fit shirt.
Practices are 1-hour long every Saturday morning at 9 AM in the High School Wrestling Room.
Tomahawks are for boys and girls in grades 2-6. This level is designed for all skill levels and, like the Lil' Warriors, teaches the body movements and control needed in wrestling but also adds basic-to-advanced techniques. This level is non-competitive but athletes can choose to compete if they so desire. Registration cost is $125. All participants receive a personalized Dri-Fit Shirt and a pair of 'MMA-style' shorts.
Practices are Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 PM in the High School Wrestling Room. With optional Saturday morning practices available for additional instruction.
Jr. Warriors is for boys and girls in grades 2-6. This is our competition team and will have duel meets against other schools in our area once a week (meets do not begin until early January). Registration cost is $125. All participants receive a personalized Dri-Fit Shirt and a pair of 'MMA-style' shorts.
Practices are Monday and Wednesday from 6 to 7:30 PM in the High School Wrestling Room. Saturday morning practices will be from 10-11:30 AM.
