Dear AP Wrestling Family,
Please save or print this for future reference. This message has almost all the information you will need to prepare for the camp. This document is also posted on our website.
Dates: Sunday, June 29th - Wednesday, July 2nd
DEPARTURE
Sunday, June 29th, 5:45 AM Meet at APHS Gym parking lot (by the wrestling room)
6:00 AM Depart from APHS
RETURN
Wednesday, July 2nd Parent drivers should plan to be there in the morning (more details to follow once we are there). We think the only thing we need to do in the morning is get the kids packed and checked out of the dorms, but that takes time.
Parent Drivers: If you have volunteered to drive, please make sure that Coach Hanlon or the APWA has sent you gas money.
Things to bring:
It is very hot in the field house where they will practice and wrestle—they will probably completely soak their workout gear during each session. Plan on 2 sets of workout gear per day. The after-dinner session is just two dual meets, so they will just need to have a dry shirt and shorts plus a singlet if they have one.
Sample Daily Schedule to assist with packing (remember that the first day will not have the morning session and that the last day is most likely just checking out):
7:00am - 8:00am - Breakfast
8:30am - 9:30am - Technique Session #1
9:30am - 11:00am - Dual Meet #1
11:30am - 12:30pm - Lunch
1:30pm - 2:30pm - Technique Session #2
2:30pm - 4:00pm - Dual Meet #2
4:00pm - 5:00pm - Free Time/Pool
5:15pm - 6:00pm - Dinner
6:30pm - 9:00pm - Dual Meets #2 and #3
9:00pm - 10:45pm - Free Time/Camp Store
11:00pm - Room Check/Lights Out

2024-2025 AP Youth Wrestling Information
AP Youth Wrestling practices return to Averill Park High School!!!
After a long absence, our Junior Warriors and Lil’ Warriors will be returning to the high school wrestling room this season!
We are offering two different programs this year depending on your child's grade level.
Junior Warriors for Grades 3-6
&
Lil’ Warriors for grades K-2
Junior Warriors will begin the first week of December (12/3) and practices will be held every Tuesday and Thursday from 6:00 PM to 7:30 PM. These practices are for boys and girls in grades 3-6. Last practice is Thursday, March 13th, and our season-ending youth tournament (the Interstate Youth Challenge) will be held that Saturday, March 15th. In total, there will be 21 practice sessions during the season. Local youth tournaments will be announced but are not mandatory. We will focus on all areas of wrestling technique as well as physical conditioning to prepare each wrestler to enter our high school system. The cost to register is $150. A 25% discount will be applied if you have 2 family members to register. If you have more than 2 children to register for this level, please email apwa.warriors@gmail.com to arrange a manual discount method. All registrants will receive an AP wrestling T-shirt. Please note that there are no discounts for the Lil' Warrior level, as it is already at cost.
Lil’ Warriors will be held every Saturday beginning on January 11th. Practices will be from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM until March 8th, with our season-ending youth event on Saturday, March 15th. This group is for boys and girls in grades K–2. In total, there will be 7 practice sessions during the season. Tournaments are not encouraged at this level. We will focus on wrestling-related motion and games at this level. Very little, if any live wrestling is planned to take place. The cost to register is $50. There is no family discount at this level, as the price is already the lowest we can go. All registrants will receive an AP wrestling T-shirt.
