JV Warriors First Tournament of the Season

Saturday the Averill Park JV wrestling team traveled to the CDWOA JV Tournament hosted by Shenendehowa High School. Seven of our boys competed, getting invaluable mat time and experience as a ramp up for our first Dual Meet of the season at home on December 4th against Saratoga Springs.

Collin “Clav” Brunelle (106) lost his first match against a tough opponent but learned he needs to keep his head up while wrestling. He was able to apply this in his next match where he beat his opponent by pin.

Justin Reger (106) lost his first match of the tournament. Coach told him he “needs to keep his elbows in on shots.” In his second match he applied that and scored on a double and finished the match by pinning his opponent.

Evan Moore (113) won his first match in dominant fashion, winning by pin fall. He fell in his second match but showed heart in a 5-9 Decision loss.

Luke Hempel (132) went 3-0, winning the tournament for his division. He showed guts in his second match, coming back from a 1-10 deficit to beat his opponent by pin fall.

Drew Loucks (132) after losing his first two matches, Drew came back to wrestle a tough third match. Persevering, he battled through his last match to win by pin.

Caden Slagen (160) unfortunately lost all three of his matches, but wrestled with toughness and supported his younger teammates during their first tournament.

Eli Goosman (195) won his first match by pin fall, but fell in his next two matches. Eli showed aggression attacking a larger opponent and pinning in his first match.
